This route follows one of Central Asia’s most legendary corridors—an
ancient artery where Persian, Turkic, Wakhi, Kyrgyz, and Silk Road
influences converge among some of the most spectacular mountains in
the world.

Arrival in Kabul
• Arrive at Kabul International Airport
• Meet & greet by your local guide
• Transfer to hotel and time to rest
• If time permits, visit nearby local markets to experience daily Kabul life

Kabul → Faizabad
Drive to Faizabad, capital of Badakhshan province. Roads vary from
paved to rough gravel.
Focus: acclimatisation to Afghan travel rhythm; explore the city bazaar.
Photography: urban life, river crossings, mountain foothill scenery.
Faizabad → Baharak → Ishkashim
Travel deeper into the mountains via Baharak and onward to
Ishkashim, the official gateway to the Wakhan.
Focus: permit verification, final supply purchases.
Photography: terraced fields, village life, views of the Hindu Kush.
Ishkashim → Qala-e-Panj
Enter the narrow Wakhan Corridor, following the Panj River east along
villages such as Qazideh and Qala-e-Panj.
Photography: Wakhi homesteads, wild cliffs, river landscapes.
Qala-e-Panj → Khandud → Sarhad-e-Broghil
Continue to the end-of-road settlement Sarhad-e-Broghil, via Khandud,
surrounded by dramatic peaks.

Sarhad-e-Broghil → Borak → Chaqmatin Lake
From Sarhad-e-Broghil continues the journey eastward via Borak, a
small Wakhi settlement, after which we enter the otherworldly Little
Pamir, home of the Afghan Kyrgyz. Arrive in the Bozai Gumbaz region,
identifiable by its unique domed tombs and stark Pamir plateau.

Little Pamir: Life Among the Afghan Kyrgyz
Full days living among the Kyrgyz nomads.
Opportunities to visit yurts, observe daily routines, photograph herding,
milking, and family life—with sensitivity and permission. Explore lakes,
seasonal pastures, and caravan trails used for centuries.
Optional hike or horseback excursion deeper into side valleys.
Photography: portrait sessions, yurt interiors, long-lens shots of
herders, sunrise over the plateau, wildlife (Marco Polo sheep if lucky),
dramatic cloud formations
Little Pamir → Return Drive to Qala e panj
Begin the return journey westward from the high plateau, retracing the
route through wide valleys and river meadows. Photography: river fords, nomadic caravans, afternoon light on the
ridge lines.
Qala-e-Panj to Ishkashim
Descend back into the Wakhan proper. From Sarhad-e-Broghil return to
Qala-e-Panj for the night.
Photography: Wakhi farms, children at play, sweeping valley views.
Ishkashim to Kunduz
Drive from Ishkashim to Kunduz (long drive).
Reach Kunduz by evening.
Kunduz → to Kabul
Leave Kunduz early and drive to Kabul through Salang tunnel to Bamyan
