Bamyan brings together mountain scenery and a layered cultural landscape. Its cliff niches and surrounding archaeological remains form a UNESCO World Heritage property. The original standing Buddha statues were destroyed in 2001; a visit is about understanding the surviving landscape and its history.
A cultural itinerary can combine the valley with time in town and, where access allows, nearby historical sites. Tell us whether your focus is archaeology, photography or a slower introduction to local life. We will discuss an appropriate route and time at each stop.
